DNA DNA is a double helix
Has two outer backbones made of sugar and phosphate and four repeating base pairs The base pairs are: Adenine Cytosine Guanine Thymine

DNA The base pairs only every bind with one other specific base pair.
Adenine always pairs with thymine (A with T) Cytosine always pairs with guanine (C with G).

DNA Replication The sugar phosphate backbones come apart
The base pairs split from their partner Each sugar phosphate backbone generates new matching base pairs Two identical DNA molecules result.
