Antinous is the leader of the group. He is cruel to Odysseus, and Penelope is clearly not impressed with his behavior. Antinous—unkind and arrogant Antinous uses unkind words when speaking to/at the “beggar.” Antinous shows out in front of the other suitors by throwing a chair at the “beggar.” Lines “…Antinous appears a blacker-hearted hound than any.
