1 Islington Residents’ Survey 2018 March 2018

2 Methodology 1,029 face to face surveys were completed amongst residents aged 16+ Sampling points were randomly selected to cover all wards and levels of deprivation across the borough Targets were set by ward proportionate to ward population, (5-8 sampling points per ward depending on the size of the ward target). A target of approximately 10 interviews was to be achieved per sampling point. Targets set by age and gender within ward and monitored by tenure / ethnicity Previous surveys were conducted by post in 2009 and telephone in 2014 and GDPR has meant that face to face surveys are more viable than telephone surveys amongst the younger population (4,697 contacts available to purchase amongst under 45s compared to 131,171 population) BMG conducted the field research and analysis 1,029 face to face surveys were completed with Islington residents’ aged 16+, this result in a maximum standard error of around 3% (+/-) i.e. if the observed statistic is 50% then you can be confident in terms of the whole population that between 47% and 53% will have that opinion In terms of sampling – random points to cover all wards and levels of deprivation were selected Targets were set by ward proportionate to population size / age and gender Also, tenure and ethnicity were monitored Previous surveys 2009 was by post 2014 and 2015 by telephone Telephone methodology is no longer feasible in Islington. As a result of a combination of the impending GDPR and younger population …… to conduct market research companies buy lists of telephone numbers, in Islington there is only 4,500 ish available telephone numbers for those aged under 45yrs (population 130,000 +)
