Projects / Grading 10% off for late work when allowed late at all I encourage redoing work when I comment to say you can fix it.

Computer Equipment Required
Introduction to Adelphi Course Computer Equipment Required NONE No home PC needed – library is fine Use library if home PC not working well MS Office occasionally needed Free Open Office is okay but not tutorials for all No need for Open Office if you have MS Office You can choose to buy the $7 / month online MS Office Mac or PC both okay Submit through moodle first but if moodle does accept your assignment.

Applications MS Office - Any version OR Open Office Word - Word Processor Excel - Spreadsheet PowerPoint - Presentation Tool SeaMonkey - Web Development Tool or any HTML tool - learn with CodeAcademy FileZilla – FTP manager Windows Explorer or Finder – File management Putty or Terminal - SSH connection GIMP or your choice - Graphics Google Hangout - Conferencing tool for us to meet These are the actual applications you will be learning, but remember that they are not the sole goal of the course All using Windows/98 Word processor – to create professional, persuasive documents and proposals Spreadsheet – table with rows and columns and the ability to do powerful calculations and cell manipulations. Has some graphing and database management tools also. Very good financial tool. Database – to handle many different types of information that are related. You can calculate and report. Very good parts or problem management tool. Presentation tool – to state a case graphically; usually to accompany a speech, but can be viewed on its own Web development tool – to create a web site to post on the internet.

General to the entire Course Announcements General Course Discussion Questions - extra participation for answering Syllabus 15 modules - one per week - approx. 5 hrs Due Saturday 5 minutes before Midnight Every solid checkbox checked by Saturday Midnight Every dotted checkbox instructions completed First week odd Organize with Moodle

Weekly Structure Week Structure Quick tutorials to learn concepts
Assignments often can be done from high level only High Level Movie Written F5 to refresh instructions

Time Management Review the assignment at the beginning of the week (allow 1 hour) Check your for updates and announcements (at least every other day) Post the first part of any required two step assignment (This only occurs some weeks.) Do the majority of the reading and activities (allow hours and preferably break it into a couple days) If you want to help, subscribe to the general course discussion questions to read updates and to offer help

DANGER Skipping an online week is the same as cutting class. NOT just homework assignments. Brush over in class OR new material SKIPPING NOT easily done later. Library PCs and Backup no excuses
