There are a number of MakerSpace options available within our STEM/STEAM lab that cover many of the areas of technology and engineering
This class has been designed to give you the option of carefully selecting the areas that are of interest to you so that you may have the best STEM/STEAM experience and learn a lot in the process

4. Advanced Electronics - Arduino
Do you have an interest in electronics?  Enjoyed making those circuits in Grade 6 Applied Technology? Arduino is an open-source prototyping platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software. Arduino boards are able to read inputs - light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a Twitter message - and turn it into an output - activating a motor, turning on an LED, publishing something online.

5. Coding
Do you enjoy solving puzzles?  Have an idea for the world's next great app?  Did you really enjoy the Hour of Code that we did last year in Applied Technology? Coding is where you will learn how to speak the languages that computer systems understand. 

6. Lego MindStorm Robotics
If you weren’t in Grade 7 Applied Technology but really wanted to work with the Lego MindStorm robots, now is your chance! In this unit, you will learn about how the field of robotics operates and how robots work. You will learn about the role of robots in society and how they are used in all aspects of STEM education. 

7. Advanced Robotics - Vex
If you were in Grade 7 Applied Technology and enjoyed working with the Lego Robots, this is the robotics unit for you! In this unit, you will learn about how the field of robotics operates and how robots work. You will learn about the role of robots in society and how they are used in all aspects of STEM education. You will have the opportunity to further explore the Lego NXT robots we worked with in Grade 7 and also to begin working with our new VEX IQ robots.

8. Small Basic
Are you interested in  computer programming?  Enjoy games of logic? In this space you will learn how to program using Small Basic, a platform that will allow you to program a computer to complete specific tasks, eventually leading to the development of a game.

9. CAD and 3D Modeling
In today's technological world, engineers are able to use computers to design and produce 3D models with 3D printers.  In this space, you will learn how to design, create, and model 3D designs using computer software such as TinkerCAD and Google SketchUp.

10. Independent Options
