Periods 3,5 and 7 Grab a lab worksheet from the back table Write your name and class period on it. On page 22 or 23: Chapter 8 review questions Answer the following questions on this page this is part of your study guide, copy down each question Explain how an unconformity occurs and how folding may occur in a rock. 5 Cake Core Sample Activity
After you collect your core samples do the following on your worksheet Step 1: Analyze your sample and compare what it looks like with the rest of your geology team Step 2: On the back of the worksheet just draw your core sample in one of the rectangle spaces. Step 3: Choose a blank image, draw your prediction/hypothesis of what you think the inside of the cake looks like. Make sure to closely analyze your teams samples. Step 4: Compare your prediction/hypothesis drawing with the rest of your team Cake Core Sample Activity

Include the following in your teams geology poster Label the oldest layer Label the youngest layer Label the following if they apply to your teams section of the cake Fossils intrusions / extrusions *if you have any of these make sure you include what type of rock these are unconformities or folding Next you will recreate a model of your geological findings As a team you will do the following Step 5: Title your geology team poster Cake Core Samples Step 6: Each person in the team will include an image of their core sample on the poster Step 7: After comparing your teams predictions, as a team draw your final prediction on the poster Last step: On your worksheet, write your findings in your conclusion. Make sure to include if your hypothesis/prediction was correct or not
