2. DNA Our traits are determined by our DNA
Our DNA is a combination of both your parents` DNA
Usually there are two choices (alleles) for each trait. We get one from each parent (attached earlobes or detached earlobes)

3. Dominant vs. Recessive
Dominant traits, if present, will always be shown
Shown by a capital letter (eg. B)
Recessive traits will only be shown if you get a pair (one from each parent)
Shown by a small letter (eg. b)

4. Phenotype vs. Genotype
Phenotype is the physical trait that is expressed (ie. Brown eyes)
Genotype is the letter combination that codes for a trait (ie. BB or Bb)

5. Example Let`s look at eye colour:
Brown eyes (B) are dominant over blue eyes (b)
A BB individual is homozygous dominant and will have brown eyes
A Bb individual is heterozygous and will also have brown eyes
A bb individual is homozygous recessive and will have blue eyes

6. Coin Flip Kids
For gender: heads represent male (Y chromosome) and tails represent female (X chromosome)
For all other traits: heads is dominant and tails is recessive
