Transcription -The main purpose of transcription is to create RNA from DNA because RNA leaves the nucleus to carry out its functions but DNA does not -A section of DNA (which has the nucleotide sequence for a specific protein) is transcribed; this is known as a gene

Transcription -Only the one side of the DNA is copied
-remember that you will find A, U, G, and C on an RNA strand

Transcription -mRNA leaves the nucleus to the cytoplasm, where protein synthesis takes place -tRNA leaves the nucleus to the cytoplasm to carry amino acids to ribosomes -rRNA leaves the nucleus to the cytoplasm where it will make proteins from mRNA
