Enrichment and extension
Why is this so important? What are we offering? How can you help your daughter? What is the Fort Pitt Passport? One of the key threads of our curriculum is the additional experiences we offer students in order to allow them to develop their experiences and skills beyond the traditional diet offered. To this end, our staff and senior students work together at lunchtime and after school, as well as at weekends on occasion, to offer a huge range of activities. There really is something for everyone: from spelling, puzzle and Science clubs to Animé, Jazz Band, Rugby, Film Club and Creative Cake making and lots more, as well as a range of academic support in all subjects. We actively encourage students to participate in a number of clubs or activities, not only to extend their own knowledge and skills but also to meet new people, make new friends and increase in confidence in a variety of social situations. Be open to new experiences, because these will enrich your life and perhaps take it in a direction you hadn’t planned. You can help by encouraging your daughter to take part in extended activities – by asking her what she did/how she got on at a club or activity. Look out for the new Fort Pitt Passport, which we will be launching in a few weeks, with the aim of encouraging all students (not just up to the age of 15, as with Challenge 15) to participate in challenging and interesting activities. By taking part in some of the many opportunities offered, students will be able to prepare themselves for educational and social experiences that may come their way in the future – such as interview at a top university, or meeting a politician or other famous person.
