Elements of the story 2. Characters There are often two types of characters in a story: HERO VILLAIN The HERO is often the main good character in a story. The HERO is the character you are hoping will succeed, defeat the villain, and be happy. The VILLAIN is often the main bad character in a story. The VILLAIN is the character who tries to prevent the HERO from succeeding or being happy.
