Genesis 1-12: creation, fall, judgment, redemption Redemption (Gen. 12:1-3): Abraham responded to God’s call (2 Thess. 2:13); he received God’s blessings (Gal. 3:9,14,29); and he was told to be a blessing to others Principle: Blessed to be a blessing

The same principle is found in Zechariah 8:8-13: Call (v. 9-10) Receive blessings (v ) Be a blessing (v. 13)

5 How He Was A Blessing Abraham blessed his family by his worship (12:7-8; 13:4, 18; 22:9), by his care for Lot (Gen ), by his intercession (Gen. 18:23), by his obedience (12:1; 21:4; 22:1), by his love for Sarah (23:4), and by his gifts (25:5-6)

6 How He Was A Blessing Abraham blessed others by his example of an active, obedient faith (Rom. 4; Gal. 3; Heb. 11; Jas. 2)

7 How We Are A Blessing By encouraging the righteous (1 K. 8:14; 1 Chron. 16:2; Chron. 30:27; Neh. 11:2) By living godly (Prov. 11:11) By showing God to others in addition to the Bible (Mt. 6:16; 1 Pet. 2:9)

9 Why Be A Blessing? It is what God says to do; it is a divine principle; God blesses us so that we can bless others It makes us less selfish; Christianity is not just about getting, but also about giving It makes us grateful (2 K. 7:9; Mt. 10:7-8) It brings others to God
