These identify (usually) two alternatives to a situation and compare the alternatives in actual practice e.g.

Constructing "scenarios" of how things might be in the future e.g.
Will Quantum security technologies challenge security thinking for technology companies? 
Problem-solving
Propose solutions to existing problems eg.
Does the use of CISCO routers improve network security for steaming media applications?

Paradoxical
Explore an apparently contradictory situation to make a suggestion for resolving the contradiction eg.
How can Authentication systems be used on Social media networks to improve user identity protection?
