What is the Hundred Years War?
A series of wars between England and France It began when the French king died without a successor and the English king, Edward III claimed it for himself Due to his Norman Heritage This war was fought on French soil and significantly changed medieval society and the style of European warfare.

English Victories English were winning the first part of the war
The longbow worked towards the English’s advantage 3 arrows (longbow) vs. 1 arrow (crossbow) The repeated English victories hurt the French morale By 1429, the English only needed the city of Orleans in order to overrun the French

She claimed God sent her to save France Convinced Charles VII to let her lead to French army She was captured by the English and burned at the stake Her death rallied the French and led them to ultimate victory French held the English from Orleans

Officially separated England and France War helped unify France Forced England to look for overseas expansion New weapons and ways of fighting Helped put an end to feudalism
