1 A competitive lesson for resources
“Oh Deer!” A competitive lesson for resources

2 Directions: -Class will be split into two groups:
-Resources (Water, Food or Shelter) -Deer -Your backs will be facing the opposite side of the room Before each turn you will need to select which type of resource you will seek OR which you will be. Habitat Mix: (when I say “Go!”) you will mix into the habitat and find your resource and bring them back to the Deer Side. *You can NOT switch your resource during the round! When time is up: Deer with no resources, die and become food. Resources brought to the Deer Side become deer. We will continue for 8-10 rounds!

3 Hand Signals for each round: Deer: Choose which resource you are searching for in Resource: Choose which resource you represent in the habitat Water / Looking for Water Food / Looking for Food Shelter / Looking for Shelter

4 Discussion Questions:
Name the three essential components in our habitat? What caused the increase of “Deer” during the activity; what caused the decrease? Why do wildlife populations continuously change within their habitat? What would happen to our activity if there was another herbivore in the habitat? How about if there was a carnivore in the habitat?

5 Graphing: On the board is a table of the number of Deer at the beginning of each round, and the number at the end of each round. You need to create a graph to show the data. Make sure to correctly label the X and Y axis and give your graph a Title.
