“The mission of Fire Corps is to increase the capacity of volunteer, career, and combination fire and EMS departments through the use of citizen advocates. Fire Corps provides resources for departments to utilize citizen advocates in non-operational roles so they can develop, implement, and sustain programs and services that will help their department meet the needs of their community.”

Volunteers in Police Service http://www. citizencorps
“The VIPS Program provides support and resources for agencies interested in developing or enhancing a volunteer program and for citizens who wish to volunteer their time and skills with a community law enforcement agency. The program’s ultimate goal is to enhance the capacity of state and local law enforcement to utilize volunteers.” The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) manages and implements the VIPS Program.

Medical Reserve Corps http://www. citizencorps
“The mission of the MRC is to engage volunteers to strengthen public health, emergency response and community resiliency. ” HQ in Office of Civilian Volunteer Medical Reserve Corps (OCVMRC), Office of Surgeon General MRC units are community-based to supplement existing emergency and public health resources Medical and public health professionals (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, and epidemiologists) Interpreters, chaplains, office workers, legal advisors, and others can fill key support positions

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) http://www. citizencorps
Training mission “First, present citizens the facts about what to expect following a major disaster in terms of immediate services. Second, give the message about their responsibility for mitigation and preparedness. Third, train them in needed life saving skills with emphasis on decision making skills, rescuer safety, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number. Fourth, organize teams so that they are an extension of first responder services offering immediate help to victims until professional services arrive.”

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) http://www. citizencorps
7 week course, 2 ½ hours per session Session I, DISASTER PREPAREDNESS:. Session II, DISASTER FIRE SUPPRESSION: Session III, DISASTER MEDICAL OPERATIONS PART I:. Session IV, DISASTER MEDICAL OPERATIONS, PART II: Session V, LIGHT SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATIONS: Session VI, DISASTER PSYCHOLOGY AND TEAM ORGANIZATION: Session VII, COURSE REVIEW AND DISASTER SIMULATION: Required to bring PPE (gloves, goggles, mask) and disaster supplies (bandages, flashlight, dressings) for each session. Which builds personal disaster response kit.
