Parent Curriculum Night .

Instruction begins promptly at 8:00 AM.
If your child arrives after 8:00 AM they should report to the office to receive a tardy pass, (attendance has already been taken). If you are planning a vacation while school is in session, please refer to the TCAPS student handbook, (coming home soon) for ideas regarding making up missed work.

Reading: Please make time for your child to read 20 minutes
daily. Record your child’s reading on their reading log. Take-home book bags will come home on Mondays and should be returned by Friday. Math: Each student will receive a Student Math Handbook. Your child will be bringing home about one math homework page per week. Please play the math games with your child as often as you can, to help them build number sense. Word Study: We will introduce 5 new high frequency words each week. A list of these words will come home each Monday. Please plan to study these words with your child. Students will take several sight word tests throughout the school year.

Partner writing Conferencing Guided Writing Share Handwriting Handwriting Without Tears strategies, (letters start at the top). Please practice at home. Good posture can help improve penmanship.

Investigations Math Curriculum Launch Guided Practice/Activity Discussion/Share ** Parent newsletters will be sent home at the beginning of each unit. These will give you an overview of what will be learned in each unit, (they do not need to be returned).

If you pick up your child please please pick up on the
8th street side (playground) and wait outside the fence. Please refrain from playing on the playground until the buses have left and everyone has been picked up. Please do not wait for your child outside their classroom or office. Please write a NOTE if there is a change in your child’s dismissal routine.

Behavior Clip Chart Your child will begin his/her day on Green
(Ready To Learn) “Clip up” for making good choices “Clip down” for not-so-good choices Your child will color a Clip Chart Calendar. Please review the calendar with your child each day.
