2 Duties of Office of Test Security
Provide training for campuses on test security issues Investigate test security violations/irregularities Analyze test data for anomalies Evaluate and investigate anomalous results Implement and coordinate District monitoring program How presentation will benefit audience: Adult learners are more interested in a subject if they know how or why it is important to them. Presenter’s level of expertise in the subject: Briefly state your credentials in this area, or explain why participants should listen to you.

3 Types of Testing Irregularities
Serious – irregularities that constitute severe violations of test security and/or confidentiality and can result in the individual(s) responsible being referred to the TEA Educator Standards and Certification Legal Division for consideration of disciplinary action Procedural – irregularities that are less severe and typically the result of minor deviations from testing procedures Lesson descriptions should be brief.

4 Serious Violations Directly or indirectly assisting students with responses by identifying answers to test questions or directing students to rework or change answers Viewing secure test content before, during, or after an administration without permission Discussing secure test content, student responses, or student performance Tampering (changing) student responses Failing to report to an appropriate authority that an individual engaged in any activity that violates the security or confidentiality of a test Example objectives At the end of this lesson, you will be able to: Save files to the team Web server. Move files to different locations on the team Web server. Share files on the team Web server.

5 Procedural Violations
Testing personnel lost or misplaced completed answer document(s) or test booklet(s) Issuing an incorrect test (3rd grade Math instead of 4th grade Math, English I instead of English II) Failing to provide an accommodation or providing an unallowable accommodation Test administrator failed to read the directions verbatim as outlined in the manual Test administrator left a room unmonitored while students were testing or with secure materials present

6 Most Common Types of Procedural Violations
Test administrators not following test administration procedures – not reading testing instructions verbatim, not actively monitoring Students given the wrong test (version, language, grade) or wrong answer documents. Allowable accommodations not provided or unallowable accommodations provided Ineligible/eligible students were/were not tested

8 Potential Educator Sanctions (by State Board of Educator Certification)
Placement of restrictions on the issuance, renewal, or holding of a Texas educator certificate, either indefinitely or for a set term Issuance of an inscribed or non-inscribed reprimand Suspension of a Texas educator certificate for a set term Revocation or cancellation of a Texas educator certificate without opportunity for reapplication either for a set term or permanently

9 Reporting Testing Irregularities
Anyone aware of a potential testing irregularity must report it to the appropriate authority (Test Coordinator, Principal, Executive Director, Assessment Department, Office of Test Security). Assessment Department staff must be contacted for instructions on how to proceed with testing. The Test Irregularity/Security Violation Form (TISV Form) must be completed and submitted online immediately. Additional statements and documentation should be collected and submitted as quickly as possible.
