1 Algebra 2 Ch.3 Notes Page 20 P Linear Programming (Part 2)

2 Example: A leather craftsman is making leather belts and wallets to sell at a craft fair. He can take no more than 20 items to the fair. Each belt takes 8 hours to make and sells for $45. Each wallet takes 2 hours to make and sells for $15. He has up to 70 hours to spend working on the leather items. He assumes he will sell all the items he makes and wants to make as much money as possible. Let X = Belts and Y = Wallets

3 Find Inequalities: B = Belts W = Wallets

4 Objective Function (Max.)
Profit = How many belts and wallets should be made per day to Maximize profit? Find the profit.

5 Graphing Calculator Want Max. for P = 13x + 2y Given: -3x + 2y < 8
x > 0 and y > 0 Convert to y = mx + b Enter in Calculator *Use Calc

6 Want Max. for P = 13x + 2y Given: y < (3/2)x + 4 or y < 1.5x + 4 y > 8x + -48
