Scratch Scratch is a web based computer programmer that uses blocks.
Blocks are pieces of computer code that tell the computer how to behave. For example, the code to the right says that it will wait for one second then ask “What’s your name” and wait – it will repeat this 10 times.

Let’s get Scratch-ing! Click the Scratch Cat to take you to scratch, or type in Scratch.mit.edu Once there click “Join Scratch” Enter in your information Be sure to write your Username and Password on your Word Document! If asked for your parent or guardian’s - enter Mr. Ochs’

Let’s get Scratch-ing! Once you’ve created your Scratch account it’s time to learn a little about it. Once in Scratch select “Tips” from the top Then select the “Try the Getting Started Tutorial”

Now it’s time to get working on your own stuff! Go back to the Scratch homepage and select either Learn how to make a project in Scratch Try out starter projects

Debugging In truth, computers are not very smart. They only do exactly as they are told – nothing more and nothing less. Fixing a problem is often called “Debugging” If your code or program is not working as you planned, look at it very carefully. Are you clear enough with your program?

Questions & Answers Identify and define at least three vocabulary words. Take a print screen of the Scratch work area. Cite and describe at least five of the different tools and/or areas that are important.
