8.6 Angles Vocabulary (PRE-Req)
Points: an exact location, ex. Point P Lines: is straight; no curves; with no end; continual Line Names: by the endpoints, point P and point Q ex. PQ Ray: a line with an endpoint that extends infinitely in one direction Perpendicular Lines to cross and create 90° angles Intersecting lines: two crossing lines that are divided into 2 equal parts Vertex: the point of intersection of 2 or more line segments, point in the middle Congruent – have the same measure

8.6 Angles Vocabulary (PRE-Req)
Acute: an angle that is less than 90 Obtuse: an angle that is greater than 90 but less than 180 Right: an angle that is 90 exactly Straight: an angle that is 180 exactly Reflex: an angle that measures more than 180º but less than 360º Protractor: tool used to identify degree measurement of the angle

8.6 Angles Vocabulary (Naming)
Angle: A shape, formed by two lines or rays diverging from common point (the vertex). Symbol Angle Names: We name angles in three different ways Option 1: 3 capital letters Ex. ABC or DEF Option 2: The middle letter is called the vertex of the angle. Ex. B or E Option 3: The number in the middle of the angle Ex. 1

8.6 Angles Vocabulary (new)
Complementary: two angles are complementary if the sum of their measures is 90˚ Supplementary: two angles are supplementary if the sum of their measures is 180˚ Vertical: opposite angles formed by the intersection of two lines. Vertical angles are congruent. Walk through the vertex to get to the other angle. Adjacent- left and right of the angle; share a common side and common vertex. Walk through the common side to get to the other angle Non-Adjacent: separate angles that do not touch, do not have a common side and do not have a common vertex. Pair of angles – only 2 angles being added together

Complementary: sum of two angles is 90 degrees and Supplementary: sum of two angles is 180 degrees Find complement Vertical: Commute through the vertex (point in the middle) Adjacent: Commute through the line Angle Relationships (find x value)

Today’s Objective Given an angle, TLW verify by measuring and describing among obtuse angles, acute angles, right angles, and reflex angles with at least 80% accuracy. Given an angle, TLW verify by measuring and describing among vertical angles, adjacent angles, supplementary angles, and complementary angles with at least 80% accuracy.
