2 School Bus Safety Rules
Passengers shall observe regular classroom conduct (except for ordinary conversation). Enter and Exit the bus at your designated stop. Do not talk to or otherwise disturb the driver. Do not extend any body part out the window. Remain seated while the bus is moving. Do not fight or play on the bus. Do not throw anything. No eating or drinking on the bus. Keep the bus clean. Never damage or deface the bus. Refrain from the use of profane or indecent language. Never use tobacco. Do not bring dangerous or prohibited items on the bus. ToC

3 Bus Stop Procedures Never wear headphones or earbuds or use any mobile device when loading or unloading. Stay on your side of the road until the bus arrives and comes to a complete stop with warning lights and stop arm out. If crossing the road, do not cross until the driver has given you the “thumbs up” and “cross” hand signal. Be aware of the Danger Zone which is 15 feet around the bus. Move in or out of the Danger Zone quickly and always so the driver can see you If you drop an item, get the driver’s attention for assistance. Be aware of passing cars. Although the stop arm is out. Be sure all cars have stopped. Never chase after a moving bus if you forgot something.

6 Emergency Exits and Evacuation
Please note on the outside of the Vehicle, all doors, windows, & hatches identified as “Emergency Exits” Upon entering the bus you will notice similar identifications on those Emergency Exits. Ensure to point out all emergency exits to every rider. It is recommended that either the driver or administration assign the seats closest to Emergency Exits to older, helpful, experienced students after ensuring that they have received, understand, and can execute the necessary procedures to operate the Emergency Exits. It is encouraged to have the first riders who disembark, assist with others who are getting off the bus to help prevent injury.

7 Procedure for Riding a Different Bus Home
Bring a note signed by your parent and including a phone number for your parent requesting the bus change. Turn the note in to the front office before school. Pick up signed note from the office at lunch time. Turn the note in to the driver of the alternate bus.
