3. September 11 Attacks
On September 11, 2001, terrorists hijack four planes.
They fly two of the planes into the World Trade Center in New York City.
They fly one plane into the Pentagon in Washington, DC.
Passengers take over the last plane and crash it into a field outside of Pittsburgh before terrorists can fly it into another Washington building.

4. Attack on the World Trade Center
8:45 a.m.—American Flight 11 out of Boston crashes into the North Tower. (92 passengers)
9:03 a.m.—United Flight 175 out of Boston flies into the South Tower (65 passengers)

5. Attack on the Pentagon
American Flight 77 out of Washington crashes into the Pentagon (66 passengers)

6. 9/11 Timeline 10:05 a.m.—South Tower collapses
10:10 a.m.—United Flight 93 out of Newark, NJ crashes southeast of Pittsburgh
10:28—North Tower collapses

7. Never Forget 2,819 died 343 firefighters and paramedics

8. Afghan War Called “Operation Enduring Freedom” Begins October 7, 2001
To defeat Al Qaeda and capture Osama Bin Laden

The foundation for the Freedom Tower began in late 2006.
