4 The danger of a single story
The single story creates stereotypes, and the problem with stereotypes is not that they are untrue, but that they are incomplete. They make one story become the only story. (Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie)

5 Interculturalism in this context is a pedagogical approach that actively and explicitly encourages the individual teacher (and student) to become aware of their own assumptions and to begin the process of unravelling these assumptions through a constructive but potentially provocative interaction with different perspectives and ‘tools’ of sorts. Difference here is taken in the active sense of the word ‘diversity’ which is currently defined in the EEDC model (Hanesworth, 2015). These differences can be interdisciplinary, linguistic, cultural, physical, and indeed anything that differentiates one individual from another.

6 Making IoC sustainable
Define terms in context and using literature e.g. what does interculturalism mean at the UoS and who is responsible for it? What is the link between interculturalism and internationalisation. Link to the Stirling community i.e. the importance of interculturalism in creating a UoS community both on-campus and in the digital world; the role of the informal curriculum. Create a set of principles for embedding interculturalism in the curriculum in a language that is meaningful and that can effect change. Explore possibility of an interdisciplinary, cross-institutional module on embedding interculturalism in the curriculum. Harness the student voice
