What hidden shapes can you find in these shapes? Learning Goals Students will: divide squares, rectangles, triangles, trapezoids, parallelograms, and rhombuses Identify the smaller shapes into which these shapes can be divided

3 Chart the Parts Materials Scisssors Glue Sticks
Paper Shapes (3-4 per student) Recording Sheets (6 per group) s

4 Chart the Parts Each person in the group will choose a shape. You will need 4 copies of the shape you choose.

5 Chart the Parts Paste an uncut shape in the top left corner of the large white paper. Fold one of the shapes in any direction – horizontally, vertically, diagonally. Cut on the fold line to make two other shapes. Paste the two new shapes under the first. Repeat with the other two shapes.

6 Chart the Parts What shapes were you able to find in the square?
The rectangle… The triangle… The rhombus… The parallelogram… The trapezoid….
