Most living things get their energy to live from the sunlight.

Photosynthesis Water and carbon dioxide are combined in the presence of sunlight to form sugars and oxygen. This is how green plants and algae get energy.

Producers and Consumers
Any living thing that can make it’s own food is called a producer. An animal that eats plants or other animals is called a consumer.

When animals eat plants, the energy stored in the plants moves into the animals’ bodies. The animals can then use this energy for their own growth and health.
