1 Vocabulary Intro

2 received When you have received something, someone has given it or sent it to you. The boys received some money for raking leaves in the yard. What gifts have you received that were surprises?

3 account If you have an account at a bank, you leave your money with the bank and take money out when you need it. The girl opened a bank account with the money from her allowance. Why would you keep money in an account at a bank instead of at home?

4 budget A budget is a plan of how to spend money that you have.
I made a budget of how I would spend my money on my field trip. For what kinds if things would you need to make a budget?

5 disappointed When you are disappointed, you feel unhappy because something you hoped for did not happen. He was disappointed, or sad, that he would not be able to buy the book. When was a time you were disappointed?

6 chuckled If you chuckled, you laughed quietly.
Her dad chuckled when he saw her tiny piggy bank. What is something that you said and someone chuckled at it?

7 staring If you were staring at something, you were looking at it for a long time. The girl was staring at the money. Should she save it or spend it? If you saw someone staring upward, what do you think you would do?

8 repeated If you repeated something, you did it or said it again.
The car wash was such a big success that the class repeated it in May. What is a task you repeated so that you could learn it?

9 fund A fund is a collection of money that is raised from an activity and set aside for a special purpose. The players got new shirts by raising money for the team fund. How could students raise money for a special fund?
