Monkeys Kibale is a moist, mid-altitude tropical forest,comprised of a mosiac of vegetation types, which vary with the altitude. This includes areas of permanent swamps, and some grasslands especially on hilltops.

Gorilla The Gorilla is the largest of the anthropoid “manlike” apes. This animal has huge shoulders, a broad chest, and long arms and short legs. A large male gorilla living in the wild may weigh 450 pounds. Standing up on it’s hind legs may reach 6 feet tall.

Chimpanzee Chimpanzees are curious and excitable, and they enjoy playing when young. They have excellent memories, and enough skill to enable them to make simple tools. They have been known to put two sticks together and to pile up boxes in order to reach food. Young chimps can be tamed easily .

They make excellent performers because they are intelligent and they are good imitators. A chimpanzee looks like a hairy man. A full grown chimpanzee may be 5 feet tall and weigh as much as 180 pounds. Sometimes the chimpanzee can be found in the trees, But most of the time there on the ground.They eat fruit and leaves.

Other species Eleven species of primates live in Kibale,
including species of nocturnal prosimians, several monkeys species, chimpanzees, and baboons. Other wildlife at Kanyawara include hundreds of avian species , forest elephant, duikers, giant forest hog, golden cat, civit, genets, mongoose, squirrels, snakes, and rodents, and rarely leopards.
