Presenting the successes and the challenges of the 2017 improvement plan

2 The overall targets of the 2017 improvement plan
The main objectives of the 2017 academic improvement plan were: To improve the overall pass percentage of KwaZulu Natal by 10% from 66.4% in 2016 to 76.4% in 2017 To improve the pass% of each district by 10% thus moving the highest district to 87.2% and the lowest district to 62.4% To increase the number 0f 100% schools To increase the percentage of Bachelor passes by 10% To eliminate the 0% schools To improve all gateway subjects by 10%

3 KwaZulu Natal overall pass percentage improved by 6.47%

4 Highest district (81%) & Lowest district (64.83)

5 Highest district improvement is 12.49%

6 The 100% schools increased by 28.2%

7 Bachelors increased by 4.23%

8 The 2016 “Zero% Schools” were eliminated in 2017 BUT three NEW “Schools” emerged in 2017

11 Performance in ten gateway subjects
Life Sciences and Maths Lit. improved by 16.19% and 7.43% respectively Physical Sciences and Geography improved by 7.35% and 6.4% respectively Economics and Mathematics improved by 6.09% and 3.68% respectively Accounting and History improved by 2.63% and 2.46% respectively Agricultural Sciences and Business Studies declined by % and 4.71% respectively
