Position Humility is not inability or inactivity “(11)…he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I ma not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit…(12) he will burn with unquenchable fire…” “Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. (14) John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” – Mat. 3:11-14

2. Reason for Jesus’ Baptism: Mat. 3:14
The Same Reason as ours? - Acts 2:38? -Jesus a sinner? Why? 1. Reveal Jesus is the Son of God: John 1:31-34. 2. To do right – obey God. “But Jesus answered him, ‘Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.’ Then he consented.” (verse 14) 3. Approve of John’s Baptism – Mat. 21. 4. Beginning of His ministry.

3. Revealing of God: Mat. 3:16-17
The Godhead (Trinity) The Son: God-Man. The Spirit: Mat. 10:16; Gen. 8:11; Lev. 14:30 The Father: Identity, affection, approval, authority “And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; (17) and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
