Information Born in 121 in Rome Died in 180 Ruled from 161 to 180
Ruled with his brother Had adoptive father

Rule Started as consul or leader of the senate
Gained more responsibility over time When his adoptive father died, he took power and became emperor known as Marcus Aurelius Antonius Augusts Accomplished many things

Acomplishments Was a Roman Consul twice
Let his brother be co-leader with him even though he was chosen to be leader He wrote meditations which were useful

Significance He was an emperor in the Roman Golden Age
He brought an end to the Pax Romana when he coulnd’t beat the Danube tribes He gave his throne to his son who was considered to be the worst emperor of Rome

Rome was losing badly When backup came, they successfully delayed their attackers and sent them away temporarily

Strengths of Marcus Aurelius
Honest and smart so his citizens could trust him He was a great warrior with good training so he could be relied on, if necessary, in battle Very patient so he wouldn’t get upset while waiting for laws to pass

Weaknesses Had to rule empire alone when brother died in battle
Had to keep the position of empire while very sick Had people who tried to steal the throne from him

Conclusion Marcus Aurelius was a good emperor for a few reason
Was very kind to his people and honest so he could be trusted Was a very strong and trained soldier so he could be useful in battle Was very patient so he would not lose his temper easily
