Main focus 1. 1994 – 2000 2001 (2003/4) Progress in legal transposition and establishing the Natura 2000 network, administrative aspects. 2. 2006 2007 (2008/9) First assessment of conservation status based on best available data 3. 2012 2013 (2014/15) Renewed assessment of conservation status, based on established monitoring system.

In order to make best use of available data → 3 products which go hand in hand: Composite Report (policy report) National Summaries (as Annex) Technical Report (web-based)

Based on Article 17 - part 2 Form of Commission Communication Max. 22,500 characters Translation in all languages Concise text, graphs and tables Envisaged for mid-2009

no limitations in space structure A ‘report’ with various chapters/sections (no draft structure available yet) European conservation status database / datasheets per species/habitat National & EU-level assessment will be shown side by side!

Consultations Consultation of Member States (= Habitats Committee) on the correctness of the content of the national summaries (as envisaged in Art.17.2) Consultation of Member States' and independent experts as well as stakeholders on the draft results of the EU-level assessment regarding the conservation status of habitats and species.
