Resetting a Credit/ Debit card transaction
Welcome to the training on resetting a debit or credit card transaction. The DMV database does not store the customer’s card number, so in order to reset a transaction, the customer will have to re-swipe their credit or debit card. Remember that DMV processors are not to touch or handle the customer’s card for any reason.
2
Every time a credit or debit card is used, a DAC will be created
Every time a credit or debit card is used, a DAC will be created. This makes it possible to reset transactions that have been paid for with more than one card. The account or accounts always have to be backed off last.

10
Highlight the VOID task and go to the payment window.
11
The payment method will automatically fill in, nothing is needed on this window except for a “Save”
12
The PIN Pad authorization window will come up
The PIN Pad authorization window will come up. The last 4 digits of the card that the customer used to pay will be displayed. Click on the Submit button.
13
The bottom of the PIN Pad Authorization window will let the processor know what the customer is seeing on the PIN Pad device. The PIN Pad is waiting for the customer to swipe their card. The view on the bottom right of this window is a picture of the screen that the customer will see on the PIN Pad.
14
Customer chooses debit or credit
Customer chooses debit or credit. They must choose the same payment method that they chose when making the original payment. So, if they chose credit to make the payment, they must choose credit here. The buttons on the PIN Pad can be pressed either using the stylus that is attached to the machine, or the customer can touch the button with their finger.
15
If customer chose debit, the system will prompt the customer to enter their PIN on the PIN Pad. If customer chose credit, this step is skipped.
16
System will verify with the customer that the correct amount is being put back on their credit card.
17
If customer chose to use a credit card, their signature must be captured using the stylus attached to the PIN Pad. When signature has been captured, the PIN Pad Authorization window will automatically close. This process should take around 1 second.
18
When the PIN Pad Authorization window closes, the processor is taken back to the Payment window. Just close this window. No save is necessary.
19
The Void has now been completed.
20
A Fee Receipt, showing the amount put back on the customer’s card will automatically print.
21
If the processor tries to reset the tasks out of order, meaning resetting the DAC before the REN task in this case…
22
An error message will come up telling the processor that there is an insufficient balance in the account. Click on ok and return to Work Flow Envelope Tasks window to reset the REN task first.
