Piedmont Virginia Community College Engineering Program PVCC offers you an affordable, two-year AS degree in Engineering on a full-time or part-time basis. Upon graduation, you can transfer into a 4-year engineering program to complete your Bachelor’s degree. Better still, you are guaranteed admission into the engineering programs at Virginia Tech, Old Dominion University, or Virginia Commonwealth University after you have earned your AS degree in Engineering at PVCC (min. GPA required). All of the engineering courses at PVCC are transferable to: UVA, VT, VCU, and ODU! Fall semester EGR Introduction to Engineering (2 credits/ 4 contact hours = .5 high school credits) This course is designed to introduce students to ideas, concepts and methods universal to all disciplines of engineering. Engineering design, analysis, and teamwork will be emphasized through a semester long project involving the Lego® Mindstorm NXT Robots. In addition, this class will also emphasize important skills, including technical documentation, presentation skills, and the use of software-based computational tools for solving engineering problems. ▪ 8:15 A.M. to 10:05 - Tuesdays and Thursdays in Engineering Lab – Room ▪ Fall Semester:  August 25 to December 16 (first class = Tuesday, August 26) ▪ No classes on Sep. 1, Sep. 20 & 21, Nov , & Dec. 9 ▪ Final exam week: Dec Spring semester EGR Engineering Design (3 credits/ 5 contact hours = .5 high school credits) This course applies the principles of orthographic projection, multi-view drawings, and descriptive geometry.  It introduces a team approach to engineering project management and helps students develop skills in the use of computer aided design and analysis.
