3. When lawyers use the term “discovery,” it means they are researching and reviewing the case at hand in depth. It could mean anything from, they look to old court cases that are similar and use facts from them in their arguments, or they could be combing through witness statements, learning the facts of the case, and looking for different arguments they could make.

Today, you will be doing all of those things! You will be reading ALL the witness statements and charges. While you are doing so, you will fill out the note taking sheet on the back of your instructions. It will be taken for a grade.

6. The point of discovery it to begin finding facts that you can use in your case to make your argument. You want to make your case. You want the jury to vote in your favor. You are looking for any evidence that will help you!
