I. Male Flower Parts anther- where pollen is produced
1. Pollen- plant sperm B. filament- holds anther up C. Stamen = Anther + Filament

II. Female Flower Parts Stigma- sticky part where pollen lands
Style- long tube that runs from stigma to ovary, pollen ( sperm) “swim” down to fertilize eggs. Ovary- part that contains eggs (ovum) that develop into fruit ( bananas, tomatoes, peaches). Carpel/Pistil= Stigma + Style + Ovary

1. Seeds are fertilized plant eggs.

III. Other Flower Parts A. Petals- have colorful patterns, scents to attract pollinators B. Some flowers have nectar ( sweet juice) to attract pollinators. C. If a flower has both M&F parts they are called perfect flowers. D. Some plants have flowers with only male parts or female parts (imperfect flowers). Corn is an example.
