1 The Outsiders In The Outsiders the characters are very important because they play an important part in developing the plot of the story. With out them we would have a very boring story. The problem with understanding this story is keeping the characters straight. If you do not know who the characters are then you cannot know what is going on in the story, or how important it is.

4 3. Describe the Greasers.  They are like hoods or criminals. They steal things and get in fights. They are from lower class families. They have greasy hair and like to wear it long. 4. Describe the Socs. They are the rich kids. They drive mustangs and wear madras. They like to pick on greasers.

5 5. Why do the Socs attack Ponyboy?
They attack him because he is alone. They attack him because he is a greaser.

6 6. Why do Darry and Ponyboy not get along?
Darry is the authority figure. He has to be hard on Ponyboy so Pony will not get in trouble. Pony is a teenager and teenagers always rebel against authority
