Lauren Johnson President FLO Part 2 Training updates You are NOT required to take FLO 2 training if your FLO 1 training was complete prior to August 2016 New dates will be available soon To date- 192 people have attended training 39 PTAs have had someone attend **Please see list in packet of schools that have not attended a training**

Please pay your council dues if you haven’t already Council Delegates- if you are not getting my s me and ask me to add you to the Council Delegate Distribution list. Honorary Life Member Committees should be formed and selecting award recipients now. Active Status- to date, there are 3 PTAs that have not reached active status. Help raise money for Rally Day- visit pearup.com/lisdptarallyday in less than 10 minutes I raised over $20 by completing simple tasks and it doesn’t cost you anything! A survey has been sent to your local Presidents and is online- participation is appreciated

LEF needs readers to help read scholarship applications. There is a one hour training and most of the work can be done from home. Let us know if you are interested. If you have a senior, application deadline is January 27th at 4:30 PM!!

22 Donald PTA develops fun, successful parties using a minimalist approach
Donald PTA’s philosophy for parties is to create fun, family-friendly events on a smart budget. Donald PTA plans, funds, and hosts three parties a year with an expense of ~$500 per party. We are prudent in spending by investing in resources that can be re-used or upcycled for future parties. Although we make adjustments from time to time, we have developed a formula we follow year after year to ensure efficiency in our planning and execution.

23 Party Planning Kicks Off Stations and snacks are selected
Our party planning process is relatively short with minor setup and decoration time Room rep team comes together and determines games, snacks & decorations Initial party setup takes ~30 mins the day before and ~30 mins the day of the party Nov. 10 Dec. 20 Party Planning Kicks Off Stations and snacks are selected Party prep Party setup! Our goal is to ensure that all members of the room rep team feel they have the opportunity to contribute to planning, preparation and execution of our parties while not creating an overwhelming workload. ~1 week before the party, signs are painted and game components are assembled

24 Parties have 5 stations; there is only one grade in the gym during each 45 minute rotation
Stations run smoothly with the help of 16 volunteers per party. All members of our community with completed background checks are invited to volunteer at our parties.

25 We have subtle keys to success for parties
The kids stay physically active and participate in 4 different games / activities (+ snack time) throughout the 45 minutes vs. being confined to a classroom. Younger siblings are welcome to participate in the party; by doing so, the children become acclimated with and excited to attend our school in the future and their parents are free to volunteer or enjoy time with their older child. A new set of games / activities are introduced each year (except for the snowball fight, it has now become a tradition) One party versus individual classroom parties has its advantages; all of our students enjoy the same activities and snack so no student or parent volunteer feels their party is inadequate!

26 In conclusion… Our approach to parties is firmly rooted in maximizing the benefits for the students and our incredible volunteers make it come to life!
