the Impact our Natural Resource Use?
How Do Measure the Impact our Natural Resource Use?
2
Natural resource use can be measured in terms of our ecological footprint. Ecological Footprint: The calculation of what natural resources are needed to support someone’s daily living on Earth. The total “footprint” for a designated population's activities is measured in terms of 'global hectares.'
4
Bioproductive Land: food and fiber
Bioproductive Sea: seafood/ sea products Energy Land: use of energy Built Land: how much living space we use up Biodiversity: forests/resources from nature
6
Ecological footprint is completed by completing a survey about our lifestyles
The kinds of homes we have, energy we use, foods that we eat, etc. Demands are different in countries around the world The Earth’s global footprint is 2.7 hectares per capita (one person), this is more than our Earth can support
7
Human Development Index:
The results of an annual evaluation of countries made by looking at life expectancy, income and literacy
10
Life expectancy: number of years a person is expected to live
Income: the average money earned per person per year Literacy: education in a country
