The decade between WWI and the Great Depression was an extremely crucial period in our nation's development. It was a period of unprecedented economic prosperity, tremendous growth, and eventual economic ruin.
The 1920's brought many new changes to the fabric of American society. The advent of prohibition, women's suffrage, and the constant conflict between modern science and conservative traditionalism allowed for a tumultuous decade and paved the way for an economic disaster. Labor relations, resentment towards immigrants, and the constant fear of communism shifted American's focus from the economy to these numerous issues. As a consequence of extravagant spending, failing farms, an unequal distribution of wealth, and failing businesses, the country was plunged into the worst economic disaster in it's short history.
