Hamlet – Guess who L/O – to explore the characters and their importance to the plot
Character List Ghost of Hamlet: The dead king of Denmark Claudius: King of Denmark Gertrude: Queen of Denmark Hamlet: The Queens son Horatio : Hamlet’s friend Rosencrantz & Guildenstern: friends to Hamlet Polonius: a lord, King’s advisor, father to Ophelia and Laertes Ophelia: daughter of Polonius, girlfriend to Hamlet jr. Raynaldo: servant to Polonius Francisco, Barnardo, Marcellus: Soldiers Valtemand, Cornelius, Osric, Gentlemen: Courtiers Two Clowns (A gravedigger and his friend) A Priest Fortinbras: Prince of Norway A Captain: In his army Players: the actors who play the part in the play within a play – The Mousetrap

Creating Guess Who? You have different small pieces of information about the character, using this and your knowledge of them to create 5 questions/statements which can be used to guess the character – Use your plot summary as well. Then draw a picture of the character to stick on the board game (make it clear who it is) Try to ask a question which shows why they are important to the story E.g: Romeo and Juliet She is angelic and beautiful Her parents would disapprove of her choices She dies in a tragic and untimely manner She is a victim of patriarchy and the way that women were treated at the time and perhaps this is done by Shakespeare to highlight social injustice. Use the small square of paper to create your questions – On another piece of paper write information about your character which can be stuck together to help understand the characters.
