Get a graphing calculator from the wall. Turn in your homework Every day there will be a short bellringer on the board for you to do. We will not take much time out of class to finish it. The bellringer will be done on a Google Note and attached to the lesson you are doing. There will be an exit ticket posted either on the board or as an attachment to your assignment. You will turn it in on a Google Note attached to the lesson. The Bellringer and the Exit Ticket will be 1/3 of your assignment grade. The classwork will be 2/3 of your assignment grade.

Make-up Work/Tutorials
If you are absent, it is your responsibility to check for missing assignments on your iPad. I will hold tutorials from 3:15 to 3:45 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. If you don’t get the missing work turned in at least 3 days after you return, it will not be accepted.
14
What do I do if I finish my work?
You will be given an enrichment assignment if you finish the daily assignment. We will never just sit around and visit. Talking about the work is different than just shooting the breeze. I don’t mind a loud room if what I’m hearing is on task. I will get grumpy if what I’m hearing is off task.
15
Other Information Cheating will be punished severely. A ZERO will be given on any test or assignment that I catch you cheating on. Games will not be allowed. If you finish your assigned work before class is over, you will be given an enrichment assignment which will be graded along with the bellringer and exit ticket as 1/3 of your assignment grade. If I catch you playing a game at any time, I will take up your iPad and turn it in to the office with a discipline referral.

INTRODUCTION TO GEOMETRY
Mr. Crews Room 131
19
Geometry The word geometry comes from Greek words meaning “to measure the Earth” Basically, Geometry is the study of shapes and is one of the oldest branches of mathematics
20
The Greeks and Euclid Our modern understanding of geometry began with the Greeks over 2000 years ago. The Greeks felt the need to go beyond merely knowing certain facts to being able to prove why they were true. Around 350 B.C., Euclid of Alexandria wrote The Elements, in which he recorded systematically all that was known about Geometry at that time.
21
The Elements Knowing that you can’t define everything and that you can’t prove everything, Euclid began by stating three undefined terms: Point (Straight) Line Plane (Surface) is that which has no part is a line that lies evenly with the points on itself is a plane that lies evenly with the straight lines on itself Actually, Euclid did attempt to define these basic terms . . .
22
And we’ll see how that worked out as we continue our study in Geometry.
