A reading from the book of Genesis
God said, 'Let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, all the wild beasts and all the reptiles that crawl upon the earth'. God created man in the image of himself, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them. - Genesis 1: 26-27
4
Men and women are different.
They look different, they think differently, and they act differently. But they were created equal, with equal and full dignity that comes from God. God created man and woman for each other to be companions and to help one another. They are complementary and are meant to work together.
5
Man and woman were created by God and for God
and in the beginning they lived in perfect harmony with God, with each other, and with all of creation. This is the harmony we were created for and the harmony we are destined for in heaven.
6
As we pray our school prayer together,
let’s offer it for our own intention so that one day we may make it to heaven to live in harmony with God.
7
Thank you for the gift of life you have given us.
We pray together: Dear Father in heaven, Thank you for the gift of life you have given us. Thank you for the people you have made us to be. Help us to live our lives to the full. Open our hearts to receive your love so that we, in return, can show love and respect to everyone in our school community, our families and our friends. Send us your Holy Spirit so we can achieve excellence in our learning and do our personal best in all areas of school life. May we always live, love and learn through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
