Name of Project: Communications and the Digital Natives
Educator(s) Özlem PAKER, School Brief description of school context Nedret İlhan Keten Secondary School Our school founded by the completing of building with 15 classrooms between the years It’s addressed to Bayraklı 275/1 sok. No:6 Izmir-Turkey and opened the door in 1993–1994 service year. School had been expanded with new building to increase 12 classrooms in service year. Our school named by our charitable financers’ retired teacher Mrs. Nedret and her husband İlhan Keten. Both names live with our school nowadays. Our school is the one of the excellent sample for charitable financer support. Their child supports us continuo. In our school we have 910 pupils and 40 teachers. We use the classroom system. Each lesson has its own classroom and pupils visit the classrooms according their lecture plan. This is the system applied in limited schools in Turkey. Closed areas are total 770 sqm by block A 468 and B 302 sqm. School Website Content/Subject Areas Practical training, the school was considered more effective use of resources. For this purpose, the results of a survey evaluating the school decided to establish the school's social network. Technology is penetrating to our lifes very deeply. No one avoids it. Especially new generations life style. They natives, digital natives. We are late for this. We are immigrants, digital immigrants. If we don’t enter their life we can not touch them, we can not share with them many things. When we upgrade our technological levels to their, they become more interested in with any activity which we manage such as technology and it’s benefications. Tecknology is a tool to touch them. Our Project just makes it.Different form facebook, we share many type files in our site such as word, excel, power point, swf, flv. And pictures, All of them filtering by our system. All sharings can be feed backed by mark as like, award or smile icons Teachers and students can build up and share their blogs for any lesson even outside of their own site. Our students share their performance homeworks and projects on that blogs. In this way we build up our pupils’ e-portfolios by the activities. Our pupils footprint is being while they are involved with their activities on site. This makes and collects very high level of data for our guidance counselors. That data is very helpful while giving them a motivation. Our site is reachable with smart phones. It supports Fatih Project.Our pupils prepared their homework using of power point and movie maker. Some of them have prepared in wordpad and shared on skydrive furthermore they prepared blogs on their own digital native site also using wordpress. Education become independent from time and place by our site “digital yerliler”, even after school time or being patient they connect to their teacher also if necessary by skype. The most important responsibility to the triangle of school, parents and pupils that about use of Information Technologies therefore these technologies should achievable in anywhere. Another well known item is parents’ hesitation to un-controlling the computer study times because of games, some hazardous programs and social networks. (Facebook). Therefore, they are forbidding or permitting for limited usage time of computers. We changed that stuation by our project. Our students share their performance homeworks and projects on that blogs. In this way we build up our pupils’ e-portfolios by the activities. Our pupils footprint is being while they are involved with their activities on site. We share many kind of presentations like ppt or flash animations, online tests even surveys about actual topics or today’s lecture presentations before exams. also actually subjects while we are going on the lecture presentation before exams. We follows member traffic on site statistics. We award necessary regular visits. Stundents have their knowledge by only 25% in school. Left side 75% is by the way of self and social teaching. We actualy integrate social network application to our education tools. To embed a project resource or materials Have the resource document available. From the Insert menu choose Object. Select Create from File… and click Browse…. Find the file you want to include and click OK. Select Display as icon and click Change Icon… and add a suitable caption. Click OK to add the caption and click OK to embed the file. Use the Action button on the Insert ribbon to activate the object. Use Hyperlinks to link to websites, audio and video that show . Do not embed video or audio, use links to video hosting sites or your school site. Open the Word documents by double clicking the icons. Clicking Save in Word will save the changes. Please ensure that you have the full permission to use any images and video, as this project will be in the public domain.

They collaborate with their group members in . And they prepare their report or presentation each one for their responsible part. They share information's and compile on OneNote meetings. They complete their studies and upload to digitalyerliler.com Their friends also review what they did. And response and feedback by marked Like or comments. Also chat with other online friends and teachers or leave a message. Teacher makes comments their reports. According to teachers evaluation they can develops or finalize their study. Also they are attend online exams. Rubrics issueded on digitalyerliler.com by their teacher. Administration of digitalyerliler.com managed by teachers and some students who are limited competent. Educator as Innovator and Change Agent
In environments where innovative teaching is challenging, have innovative teaching practices and ICT been used in instrumental ways to change how students learn. Does the educator demonstrate evidence of continuous improvement in their professional practice, model lifelong learning and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by supporting other educator’s development and understanding of the impact on learning of the effective use of digital technologies? Our explanations and demands have been formed to the our project concept. Mr. Vedat Fattah showed us some example applications in open source code programming. Our project was developed on that possibilities. Our pupils always is our members even they will graduate from school. This will help to develops school culture. Cultural developments will be recorded in our digitalyerliler.com. This portfolio will be a tool for better school management and data for swot analysis. digitalyerliler.com can be set up by the all others school. These school networks expanded in parallel or serial direction as a big social networks . Students collaboration to each others will be expanded to the other schools.
