Merits & Demerits A merit is given to students who live up to the characteristics in the YWLA Creed. Teachers and staff may award students merits when they see them go above and beyond on campus. A demerit is given when students do not meet the expectations of the classroom or YWLA campus. Teachers and staff may give demerits for seen behavior.

Demerit Procedure Everyday, your advisory teacher will check on your character card. If you have 3 demerits, you will receive lunch detention either the same day or next day. Advisory teacher will give you a lunch detention pass. You bring the pass and report to the commons.

Lunch Detention Monday to Thursday, the lunch detention will be held in commons.

Tuesday - Friday: White Oxford Blouse: Short or long sleeve, must be worn with tie Red or White Polo with YWLA crest Shorts: navy, knee length, no cuff Slacks: navy, no capri pants Plaid 81 skirt with polo or oxford Plaid 81 Jumper

Special Dress Requirements: White oxford blouse Grades ONLY: Plaid 81 skirt Grade 9 ONLY: gray pleated skirt Navy tie Navy blazer with YWLA crest White or navy knee high socks Black ballet flats Full Dress Requirements: Same as above but without YWLA blazer

Shorts: khaki, knee length, no cuff Slacks: khaki ** All uniform pants and shirts are to be worn at the waist in the appropriate size for the student and will be neatly hemmed. ** No skinny jeans/pants; no jeggings; no capri length pants (jeans will only be allowed on special days) ** No bottoms shall have any rips or holes in them.

Socks/Shoes Boat shoes/sperry loafers: neutral colors or navy Flats (Vans, slip-ons, Toms, Bobs, etc): Any solid color, no patterns or white canvas material Tennis shoes/athletic/sneakers/gym shoes (not for PE): All white, all navy or all red with neutral accents Canvas/Keds/Converse: red on white, navy on white, no other colors

Accessories Bows/Ribbons: solid red, solid navy, solid white or plaid 81 Head bands: no decorative pieces larger than a quarter Belts: plain black or brown, no embellishments or distracting buckle Backpacks: any color No bandanas or paisley patterned headbands.

Questions? If you question what is correct, take a picture and show it to an administrator. Play it safe so you do not get a demerit.
