What does this mean?!
To distribute means to give something to each member of a group.
Algebra example:
a(b+c)= ab + ac

3(x + 2) =
Use the Distributive Property:
3(x) + 3(2)=
Now multiply:
3x + 6
This is your answer

2(5 + x)=
x(2 +5)=

2(x + 5)= 2x + 10
2(5 + x)= x
x(2 +5)= 2x + 5x = 7x

7. Distributive Property with Subtraction
Example:
Apply the Distributive Property
3(1 –y)=
Multiply, and keep the subtraction sign
3(1) – 3(y)
Your answer
3 – 3y

2(x –5) =
3(5 –x) =
(x –5)3 =

2(x –5) = 2x -10
3(5 –x) = 15 -3x
(x –5)3 = 3x -15
