Refraction Refraction occurs because light travels at different speeds in different media When light changes speed as it moves from one medium to another its direction also changes

Refraction As the light ray travels from air to water it will bend toward the normal. Draw this on the picture below. What would happen if a light ray travelled from water to air?

Refraction To know if the light is going to speed up or slow down we need to know the density of the media. More dense media will cause light to travel slower and less dense media will cause light to travel faster

The cornea causes about 80% of refraction as light passes through The lens causes about 20% of the refraction as light passes through However, this part is responsible for focusing on close objects
