7 Final Design The Winged Box Kite

8 Winged Box Kite We chose the winged box kite because it was most suitable in performing the task that we chose Two long, straight spars running the full length of the kite, diagonal braces which make the whole structure rigid Has tremendous lift and can fly at high altitudes Traditional box kite with wings attached diagonally More stable and more lifting power than traditional box kite

9

10 Task Task: Meteorology, testing atmospheric conditions
Carry various instruments Measure variables such as Wind speed, temperature, and atmospheric pressure

11 Why it was Ideal Very stable Can carry a considerable amount of weight
Simple design Wings gave it more lift and carrying power Requires minimal resources

12

13 Test 1 Without wings Sails alone were not enough to carry the kite
Tested starting on the ground and starting in the air Without being able to carry itself, it would not be able to carry tools.

14 Test 2 Attached wings Able to fly successfully
Very stable during flight Able to fly at high altitudes Was able to carry 200 gram weight (simulate tool or instrument)

15 Successful Flight
