Mussolini was captured so Hitler sent troops to rescue him
Germans Defeated at Stalingrad
One of the costliest battles of the war
Germans became surrounded and forced to surrender
From there Soviets push Germans back into Eastern Europe

5. Allies Push Toward Germany

Paratrooped soldiers in overnight
Recapture Paris- kick out Germans
Allied bombing of Germany was being successful
Battle of the Bulge
Germany’s last attempt to stop Allied advance before Americans arrive
Both sides took total losses
Deemed a tie since neither side achieved what they needed
Soviet Army advances toward Germany
By early 1945 Defeat of Germany was inevitable
