2. Background to the survey
The CTA is the key representative body for major companies in Australia on corporate tax issues. The CTA’s 125 members account for about 60% of all income tax paid by large corporates in Australia. 75% of CTA members are Australian listed public groups. The balance of membership are fully or partially foreign owned, government owned or privately owned. This confidential benchmarking survey, the first conducted by the CTA, was formulated in consultation with the CTA Executive Committee and is aimed at providing CTA members with some insights into the current size, shape and cost of tax functions across Australia. This survey will be conducted on an annual basis, with the objective of providing CTA membership with an ongoing point of reference from which to assess their tax function and its future needs.
