The Days leading up to World War One
5th July 1914 Germany says it will support A/H in any European war. The famous Blank Cheque. 28th June 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand is assassinated in Sarajevo by Gavrilo Princip of the Black Hand The Days leading up to World War One 25th July 1914 Serbia surprisingly accepts all conditions except one. They also ask for more time. 23rd July 1914 A/H sends an ultimatum with impossible conditions to Serbia. This is a deliberate ploy for war.

The Days leading up to World War One
29th July 1914 Russia want to defend their Slavic friends in Serbia. Russia mobilises it’s military 28th July 1914 A/H rejects the offer and declares war on Serbia. Germany supports them. The Days leading up to World War One 3rd August 1914 Germany declares war on France. This is because of the Schlieffen Plan. 1st August 1914 Germany witnesses Russia mobilising and decides to mobilise themselves.

4th August 1914 Germany declares war on Belgium as part of the Schlieffen Plan. Britain declares war on Germany as part of the ‘Treaty of London 1839’. 6th August 1914 A/H declares war on Russia. 12th August 1914 Britain and France both declare war on A/H. The war has now begun!!!!!!!
